About PVE Foundation

  • The Foundation is private community organization that has committed to partner with the City of Palos Verdes Estates, homeowners associations and other organizations within Palos Verdes Estates, to accomplish mutually beneficial needs within the community. It has no investors, nor beneficial owners. We are expressly committed to the history and character of this City and are not involved in property development.
  • Our Board Members and volunteers of the PVE Foundation are governed by Conflict of Interest policy, Confidentiality & Privacy Policy and Bylaws which prohibit the misuse of funds, trust, information or relationships.
Residents within our community may find themselves as active participants of a variety of groups including non-profit or City organizations. They are expected to follow the rules and guidelines of the organizations with which they are involved. That would include disclosure and recusing themselves, as appropriate.
  • As of November 2021, the Palos Verdes Estates Foundation was granted 501(c)(3) status by the IRS. This is a significant step of growth for our organization, allowing us to directly process Donations. Donations are tax-deductible (Tax ID: 38-4135087).
  • The PVE Foundation has been a start-up organization of passionate volunteers who love our City and want to enable it to have projects completed that might not be in the budget or timetable of the City. With many moving parts, we have been able to accomplish much and have worked to improve communication and visibility of key documents to our residents.
All financial documents reflect sources of funding that are from individual donors and small local businesses. We are proud that our funding has come almost exclusively from residents. A small portion has come from individuals outside the community who have been past residents or appreciate our local treasures and small local businesses. No funding has been received from influential entities or developers. Our 2020 Form 990 and Financials are posted on our website which identifies relevant financial information pertaining to our tax-exempt organization. Note that revenues listed under Community Partners reflect the “passthrough” dollars of private donations that were processed by Community Partners as our fiscal sponsor.
  • When the PVE Foundation started in 2020, we utilized a non-profit start-up organization called Community Partners to save the costs of starting a non-profit so that we could begin the work of doing good in our city.
Community Partners was formed over 30 years ago and is involved with approximately 200 organizations. They provided a vital service to the PVE Foundation while we were in our formative stages. Community Partners was retained to function as the fiscal sponsor while the Foundation was in the process of attaining it’s 501 (c)(3) status from the IRS.
The Foundation received no funding from Community Partners. We paid Community Partners for their financial processing services. The Foundation terminated its contract with them during the first quarter of 2022 because the Foundation had successfully obtained it’s independent IRS status. We thank Community Partners for the vital service they provided.
  • The PVE Foundation was created as a means of raising tax-deductible funds to be utilized for the benefit of the community. We have also been a central place where residents, City and other organizations can suggest their ideas for projects which has resulted in a number of potential projects having a place to be considered and coordinated with the City.
The PVE Foundation is an entity that works with our community. No current or past Board Member has had a financial interest, nor a financial benefit. Board Members are donors and volunteers.
  • The PVE Foundation files all required governmental reporting. As with other California 501 (c)(3) entities, no requirement to disclose any additional data and respects the confidential relationship it has with its donors. The PVE Foundation has no profit-sharing interests.
